Congratulations to the National Honor Society Inductees.

This is a great start to a bright future.

Tonight will be the Junior High National Honor Society Induction.

The elementary students have been very busy this week. The Principal’ Reading Challenge students were able to go to the water park on Monday and had a fantastic time. On Tuesday, the Century Club members were able to enjoy a trip to iFly in San Antonio.  The students had a great time.  Wednesday was the elementary play day.  Boy did the students have a great time.  I would like to thank the PTO and school staff for making this day possible for our students.  The Student Council was also able to help out with this event.  All help was very much appreciated.

The Junior High Sports Picnic was held Tuesday night.  Our student athletes did well throughout this school year.  Thank you to everyone who helped put on this event for the students.

 

The secondary campus hosted Mr. Heath Hardwick today.  He was able to share valuable information with our students about cyber bullying and sexting.  Students will have more time on their hands this summer and we hope his words will help keep them safe.  Thank you to those who helped bring this program to our school.

The elementary campus presented their year end awards today.  One of our school goals this year was attendance.  The elementary students with perfect attendance received a 50 dollar bill.  We appreciate those students who made it to school each and every day.  Thank you to the elementary for rewarding the students who received perfect attendance! There were also many UIL, Century Club, Presidential PE, and academic awards given out to our students.  I am very proud of their success.

The elementary school and the PTO honored Mr. Fierova for his dedication and service to the school.  Mr. Fierova is always volunteering his time to take pictures of the school events.  We are very thankful for Mr. Fierova.

Welcome New Board Member: Mr. Henry Balderamas

Woodsboro ISD would like to welcome Mr. Henry Balderamas as a new Board Member.  Mr. Balderamas was able to attend his first Board Member training this past Wednesday in Victoria, TX at the Region 3 ESC.  We are very excited to have Mr. Balderamas join our team.

 

I would like to thank the Athletic Booster Club for putting together an outstanding banquet for our students.  We appreciate all you do for our students and our school. Your support is important to the success of our district.  Thank you

 

 

The elementary hosted the local Game Wardens on Monday in the Dome.  The students were able to learn about environmental safety.  The students really enjoyed seeing and touching the snakes.

This week I was able to attend the Awards Ceremony for the secondary students.  I was pleased to see so many awards presented.  Thank you to everyone who supplied a scholarship for our students.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.  Woodsboro is very proud of Jeremy for pursuing a career in the Navy.  We wish him the very best.

 Happy Nurses Week!

I would like to wish our school nurse, Mrs. Baker, a very happy nurses week.  We are very blessed to have such a caring and giving nurse to serve our students.  We appreciate all you do!  Thank you.

I am excited to hear that we have many students who reached the Century Club in reading.  They will be going to iFly in San Antonio to celebrate their accomplishment.  Great Job!

Congratulations to S. Hall for winning 2nd at the State Track Meet in the Pole Vaulting! We are very proud of her accomplishments!   Good luck to our boys mile relay team!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Congratulations to Sage for being crowned the Cinco de Mayo Queen!

Thank you to the Spanish class, Mr. Gonzales, the Fierovas, and all others who helped put on a great afternoon of celebration!

I want to wish all the teachers and students the very best next week as they take the STAAR assessment. Everyone has worked hard all year and I know our students will do their best.  Good Luck!

The Spring Band Concert was great.  Thank you to Ms. Marshall and  the band students for putting on a great performance for the community.

Congratulations to S. Hall for winning the Regional Track Meet in the Pole Vaulting and the J. Hernandez, J. Tully, T. Payne, and R. Esparza for winning the mile relay.  These students will be representing WISD at the State Track Meet on May 12th and 13th in Austin, TX.  We wish you all the best!

The baseball team will play their first playoff game against Benavides tonight in Falfurrias at 7:30 pm.  Please make plans to come and support our guys.

Texas Students Fund Welding Program With Their Own Work

Mr. Fricks and his welding program was honored as Miller Electric showcased them in an article.  We are very fortunate to have such an excellent program at Woodsboro ISD. This programs offers so much value to our graduates.  Click here to access the article.

Thank you to the PTO for donating a new sign to the Elementary.  It really looks great.

We appreciate your dedication to our students and our school!

The golf team played at the Regional Golf Tournament in Corpus Christi on Wednesday and Thursday. They will not advance to State but they represented WISD well. Great Job guys!

The Lady Eagles played Riviera last night in Sinton and come up a little short.  We are very proud of our Lady Eagles and their success.  They had a great season.

The baseball team will play their first playoff game against Benavides on Friday, May 5th in Falfurrias at 7:30 pm.  Please make plans to come and support our guys.

I want to wish all of our Regional Track and Field qualifiers the very best today and Saturday.  Bring home the medals!

The next few weeks will be busy for WISD.  Next week, there will be a baseball game, regional track meet, and a regional golf tournament.  The first week of May is “Teacher Appreciation Week” and the following week will be STAAR testing. This year has really flown by!

Congratulations to the Tennis teams on their success in District and to K’Lynn for making it to Regionals. Great Job! The District Results are as follows:

Varsity Division

Girls Singles:   1st Place – K’Lynn  Martinez

3rd Place – Roberta Vega

Boys Singles: 4th Place – John Hernandez

Boys Doubles: 3rd Place – Jaren Ortiz & Braden Levick

Girls Singles: 2nd Place – Mailee Shaw

3rd Place – RyAnn Rodriguez

Girls Doubles: 3rd Place – Autumn Havens & Sage Garcia

4th Place – Kendyl Kurtz & Journey Morris

 

K’Lynn competed at the Regional meet at the HEB Tennis Center in Corpus Christi on April 17th & 18th. We are very proud of her success!  

The Band will be participating in the South Coast Jazz Festival and the ATSSB Region Jazz Clinic and Concert in Goliad on April 28th and 29th.  I know they will do an excellent job representing Woodsboro ISD.

Congratulations to all the Track members who are advancing on to Regionals.  I wish you well on Friday and Saturday in Kingsville.

Congratulations to our Golf Team for making it to the Regional Tournament in Corpus Christi.  They will play this Wednesday and Thursday at the Lozano Golf Course.

Coach Rangel has been on the job for a week and all is well.  Woodsboro ISD will host a Meet & Greet for Coach Rangel on Wednesday night, 3/12/17,  from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Athletic Dome. Please come by and say Hi!

Congratulations to our Region UIL qualifiers! We are very proud of our students for moving on to the next level.  Great Job!

Here are some of the participants at the District UIL Academic meet on March 3rd, 2017. A few students were missing, Kasten, K’Lynn, Clay, and Valeria. We are very proud of your participation and success!

Congratulations to Nickolas Ellison for winning four gold medals at the UIL District Academic meet in Falls City on Friday, March 31st.  The medals were in math, calculators, number sense, and social studies. He also won a silver medal for editorial writing.  We are very proud of Nickolas and his accomplishments!

The Elementary and the PTP are hosting Pioneer Day today.  There are many activities for students to participate in such as washing clothes, husk doll making, roping, cow milking, butter making and many more activities.  We thank all the volunteers who make this day possible for our students.  We also thank the PTP and teachers for all they do for our students!  Thank you!

 

Congratulations to the Golf Teams!  The Lady Eagles placed third in District on Wednesday and the Eagles placed 2nd.  The Eagles will be advancing to the Regional finals on April 26 & 27th in Corpus Christi.

Jordan Abila was the District Golf Champion on Wednesday.  Congratulations Jordan!

Congratulations to K’Lynn placing 1st Singles Tennis at district. Good Luck at Regionals!

The pitch count scoreboard has been installed at the baseball field.  We are ready for Nordheim tonight!

The Lady Eagles softball team will play Three Rivers tonight in Three Rivers starting at 6pm.  The Lady Eagles JV game has been cancelled for tonight.  The Eagles baseball team will play Nordheim tonight in Woodsboro starting at 4:30.

STAAR Testing

The last week of March lends to several STAAR tests.  We are very proud of our students for the hard work.  We are also very thankful for our teachers and their dedication to our students.  Thank you!  Below is a schedule of the next big round of testing: 

The Woodsboro Eagles hosted the JH District track meet last night.  We are proud of the dedication and determination these students displayed.  They have all worked hard for their accomplishments.  We are very proud of them!  

We are very excited to welcome Coach Rangel on Monday, April 3rd.  Please make time to welcome him to our community and district.  

The Lady Eagles softball team will play Freer tonight in Freer.  The Eagles baseball team will play Port Aransas in Port Aransas tonight.

The HS Track Teams are in Port Lavaca today. See the schedule below.

Woodsboro ISD would like to Welcome Coach Xavier Rangel.

Coach Xavier Rangel is coming to Woodsboro from Plainview ISD where he was the Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Football Coach. He was born and raised in Lubbock, TX where he earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.  We look forward to meeting Coach Rangel on April 3rd, 2017.  Click here to read Coach Rangel’s bio.
